How to edit a converted dynamic flash?

I have converted a swf file to fla and i have flash mx. when i open the converted fla file it has a library full but also has only one layer. It is labeled dummy layer. The swf was a stand alone flash file and uses no other file other than a index file to house it in.
But there is nowhere i can edit all the dynamic text and or menu. there is nothing in the library.
How can i edit the script in this file?
