Question by Decrot: How do you add water to a toilet trap.?
I have a toilet that emits an odor that needs to be remedied. Someone told me that it may be a dry or possible clogged trap. How do you add water or unclog a toilet trap?

You flush the toilet. There is always water in the trap, it is under the toilet and it should never go dry. If there is an odor, then you probably have something trapped in the toilet that is causing that. Call a plumber or get the tool to clean out a glogged toilet. that should get to whatever is causing the smell. Also, you can try things like flushing bleach down the toilet, or even the stuff that is used for septic tanks (it will eat everything). Sadly, the water is really there to prevent smells from coming through. My best guess is that if the toilet is in place and there is water in it, then the smell is likely coming from somewhere else.
